Entering the mainstream: Building business demand for carbon dioxide removal
Science leaves no room for doubt – to tackle the climate crisis it is imperative to drastically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, it is becoming more and more evident that this alone will not be enough. According to estimates, to successfully limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, we will also need to remove anywhere between 5 to 15 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year by 2050.
Despite recent progress, spurred by early-mover corporates and policy incentives, investment into carbon dioxide removal (CDR) however falls way short of what is needed to scale these critical solutions to this level. This session will bring together leaders from across the CDR market to explore how to drive demand within the private sector.
