Both nature-based and technological carbon removal solutions are critical for companies to develop a diverse portfolio of removal solutions beyond the value chain as part of a high-ambition climate mitigation strategy.

This session will lay out some of the context on the importance of removals alongside deep decarbonization and corporate action in the removal space; detail what a diverse portfolio approach means and why this is beneficial for global climate mitigation and delivery against corporate sustainability targets; explore what leading companies are doing in this space and understanding some of the challenges that they face, and finally introduce planned work by WBCSD and the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance (NCSA) on developing a removals taxonomy and how-to-guidance on emissions compensation and neutralization strategies.
